I just put the disc in the tray and close the door.  It is supposed to
auto-mount.  It is a CDROM with videos on it so I assume that it is supposed to
be read only.

I tried to manually mount the volume and got the same error

debtop:/# mount -r /dev/sr0 /media/cdrom
mount: wrong fs type, bad option, bad superblock on /dev/sr0,
missing codepage or helper program, or other error
In some cases useful info is found in syslog - try
       dmesg | tail  or so

debtop:/# dmesg | tail

It just works as expected on the Ubuntu laptop, but I don't have access to that
one all of the time.  Mine is running Debian Squeeze.
