smart card is really different, but the idea is the same - implemented in
the dongles, only it applies to a local computer ... when you don't want to
enter passwds all the time etc.

The suggestion to use the UID of the disk (or partition) as authentication
is enough for you I guess. Also I would put it in the initrd. If the user
had a keyboard s/he could hack it, so that's why I've asked why do you need
this?
Perhaps it's really better to use usb smart card for authentication or the
dongles mentioned before
