The onboard video on my Dell Dimension 2300 died, so I found a pci video card and installed it. Then I installed Lenny. It would not boot. I installed Squeeze. It too would not boot and I struggled to find out why. I thought it might be a problem with the newer distros, and the older box. I installed Etch. It too did not boot. After much looking at ugly screens, and many google searches I found:
http://lists.debian.org/debian-user/2007/02/msg01579.html
So I ran "find / -name "*agp*.ko" and added all to the /etc/modprobe.d/blacklist.

This is necessary because the onboard video can not be disabled in the bios.

At last, a system that would boot. But Etch?

I installed Squeeze. I searched for "*agp*.ko" and found nothing. I added all of the video and char drivers that began with i (for Intel) to the blacklist. Squeeze will not boot.

What happened to the "*agp*.ko". What do I put in the blacklist.

Thanks for your patience.

Jim
