After I upgraded my debian testing system on 17 October, I experienced severe
problems with eclipse: A number of important dialogs fail, e.g., Configure
build path | libraries | Edit, Remove, Migrate JAR File; Configure build
path | Order and Export | Up (but not Down), Top (but not Bottom); Run
Configurations | Run button. No dialog appears, no action is launched, and
the UI is unresponsive until I click some other item or button. This happens
to my debian eclipse installation, which by the way became obsolete on the
same day. It happens also to my newly installed Eclipse IDE for Java EE
Developers, Galileo Packages (based on Eclipse 3.5 SR1). It happens when I
launch eclipse on Sun Java 5 or 6 or on OpenJDK6. It happens to all my
workspaces. The eclipse logs (workspace/.metadata/.log) show no error
messages related to any such event.

I strongly feel it is connected with the GTK update of that date, from
2.16.6-1 to 2.18.2-1. I cannot find any related message in debian-user or
any other forum. Is there any clue to why this happens, and how it can be
solved?

Simon
