Have you added those DVDs to the apt system with apt-cdrom? If you have, then there's a problem. If you haven't then there's your problem :) Once you've used apt-cdrom to add the cd/dvds successfully, then apt will know about it, you'll see an entry in /etc/apt/sources.list for each CD.
