Hello my friend. I converted my laptop (Celeron 1.9GHz, 1 GB RAM, 5400RPM HD) to a full encrypted system a year ago (http://www.debian-administration.org/articles/577) and noticed absolutely no performance impact. Also note, that I constantly torture the system with large file transfers from partition to partition, large file creation etc etc, and performance seems to me exactly the same. Giorgos
