ever since SID's glibc went from 2.3.1 -> 2.3.2 I haven't been able to print. Now I do not know enough about cups or it's driver system to really diagnose what is happening. All that i know is that downgrading to glibc 2.3.1 seems to fix the problem ( I read the error log on debug2 and noticed references to functions that looked like they were in libc).
This is quite possibly a problem with the 3rd party drivers that came with the printer , which is why I haven't filed a bug against libc6 or cupsys. Here is what I think is the relevent section of the error log. Pleas help me find out at least where to start looking. (ignore the media tray message since I know that the media tray is fine with libc 2.3.2) <-----snip ---> [13/Aug/2003:22:23:48 -0700] copy_attrs(0x82179b0, 0x8215120, 0x8217300, 2) d [13/Aug/2003:22:23:48 -0700] copy_attribute(0x82179b0, 0x82151d0[job-originating-user-name,2,42]) d [13/Aug/2003:22:23:48 -0700] copy_attribute(0x82179b0, 0x8215c30[job-id,2,21]) d [13/Aug/2003:22:23:48 -0700] copy_attribute(0x82179b0, 0x8215be8[job-state,2,23]) d [13/Aug/2003:22:23:48 -0700] copy_attribute(0x82179b0, 0x8214b38[job-printer-uri,2,45]) d [13/Aug/2003:22:23:48 -0700] copy_attribute(0x82179b0, 0x8214b60[job-name,2,42]) d [13/Aug/2003:22:23:48 -0700] copy_attribute(0x82179b0, 0x8214b88[job-k-octets,2,21]) d [13/Aug/2003:22:23:48 -0700] copy_attribute(0x82179b0, 0x8215b98[time-at-creation,2,21]) d [13/Aug/2003:22:23:48 -0700] add_job_state_reasons(0x4028b460[8], 87) D [13/Aug/2003:22:23:48 -0700] ProcessIPPRequest: 8 status_code=1 d [13/Aug/2003:22:23:48 -0700] ProcessIPPRequest: Adding fd 8 to OutputSet... d [13/Aug/2003:22:23:48 -0700] WriteClient: Removing fd 8 from OutputSet... d [13/Aug/2003:22:23:48 -0700] ReadClient() 8, used=0 D [13/Aug/2003:22:23:48 -0700] CloseClient() 8 d [13/Aug/2003:22:23:48 -0700] CloseClient: Removing fd 8 from InputSet and OutputSet...
