I have exactly the same problem. The reason WHY it does not work is, because DHCP is going into the background and the script is exiting with a ExitStatus of 0 which then executes automaticaly /etc/network/if-up.d/ where IF_ADDR is not set. So, seting up any routes or such will fail.
