I've taken another route that doesn't work for everything, for things like kde and gnome I 've done a search on apt-get.org or just on the applicable site and found stable sources. After adding these sources to the sources list you get the most recent copies of almost everything without the whole system blowing up in you're face... Just a thought use it, don't use it...
