I am not sure if its due to package upgrade or kernel upgrade (I keep
recompiling those lately to try and get swsusp to work properly), but
halt/reboot/shutdown stopped working properly.
When I try to halt the computer everything goes on properly up to the
point where the computer is supposed to turn of, where it just freezes
with a blank screen.
When I try reboot I get to the blank screen again, then the computer
behaves as if it restarts, i.e I get the laptops logo startup screen,
the disk light comes on and the computer freezes. If I turn it off and
back on the bios says that the last boot didn't finish and gives the
bios settings page.
I can turn of the computer properly using acpi (echo 5 >
/proc/acpi/sleep).
I am using an acpi+swsusp+dsdt patched 2.4.21 kernel.
It worked before also under acpi, stoped working recently and but I
didn't notice due to what.
I tried downgrading sysvinit from 2.85-7 to 2.85-6 but it didn't help,
maybe wasn't far enough.
