It turned out to be an IPv6 issue. What the issue was, I'm not too sure, however blacklisting the IPv6 kernel module (as shown below) appeared to resolve the issue. I know that this isn't a perfect fix, however as I don't use IPv6 at the moment, it worked! To blacklist the module, start a terminal session (Gnome == Applications > Accessories > Terminal) then type the following: $ su - Password: <your_ROOT_passwordhere> # echo "ipv6" >> /etc/modules.d/blacklist # quit $ quit Then reboot the system. That should work, although I don't have a system at hand to test it!
