Hello. I'm having a problem getting aptitude to forget about a couple of CD-ROMs.
I might give the CD-ROMs to my father soon; however, I've loop-mounted the ISO files from which the CD-ROMs were made, so I should be able to install from those. However, aptitude just won't forget about the original CD-ROMs. This is my current sources.list: ------------/etc/apt/sources.list----------------- # #### Security Updates deb cdrom:[Debian GNU/Linux 4.0 r0 _Etch_ - Official i386 CD Binary-2 20070407-11:55]/ etch main deb cdrom:[Debian GNU/Linux 4.0 r0 _Etch_ - Official i386 CD Binary-1 20070407-11:55]/ etch contrib main deb http://security.debian.org/ etch/updates main contrib # deb-src http://security.debian.org/ etch/updates main contrib #### Etch deb ftp://debian.lcs.mit.edu/debian etch main contrib non-free # deb-src ftp://debian.lcs.mit.edu/debian etch main contrib non-free #### Sarge (Reference) deb ftp://debian.lcs.mit.edu/debian sarge main contrib non-free --------------------end-------------- However, when I try to install a new package, aptitude doesn't try to get it from the ISO volume. Instead it asks me to insert Binary-1 (or 2) into the CD-ROM drive and press Enter. When I do an "aptitude update," this is what I see at the top of the output: Ign cdrom://[Debian GNU/Linux 4.0 r0 _Etch_ - Official i386 CD Binary-2 20070407 -11:55] etch Release.gpg Ign cdrom://[Debian GNU/Linux 4.0 r0 _Etch_ - Official i386 CD Binary-1 20070407 -11:55] etch Release.gpg Ign cdrom://[Debian GNU/Linux 4.0 r0 _Etch_ - Official i386 CD Binary-2 20070407 -11:55] etch Release Ign cdrom://[Debian GNU/Linux 4.0 r0 _Etch_ - Official i386 CD Binary-1 20070407 -11:55] etch Release Ign cdrom://[Debian GNU/Linux 4.0 r0 _Etch_ - Official i386 CD Binary-2 20070407 -11:55] etch/main Packages/DiffIndex Ign cdrom://[Debian GNU/Linux 4.0 r0 _Etch_ - Official i386 CD Binary-1 20070407 -11:55] etch/contrib Packages/DiffIndex Ign cdrom://[Debian GNU/Linux 4.0 r0 _Etch_ - Official i386 CD Binary-1 20070407 -11:55] etch/main Packages/DiffIndex Evidently, aptitide and apt-cdrom are keeping some information about those CD-ROMs somewhere on disk, but I don't know where, and apt-cdrom doesn't have --clear-caches option. What can I do to get aptitude and apt-cdrom to forget about the original CD disks? -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to [EMAIL PROTECTED] with a subject of "unsubscribe". Trouble? Contact [EMAIL PROTECTED]
