There are two common methods of obtaining debian:
- buy a full set of CDs/DVDs. Take care that you buy a set with source
code included.
- burn a 'minimal' installation CD and download only those packages that
you need (after the base system is installed).
You can always download the source to a certain package by
$ apt-get source packagename
(once you've installed debian)
