i'm trying to play a cd with xmms but get no sound. nor can i get sound with xine. as far as i can remember, the only change to the sys' which might be related is that i recently recompiled my kernel. also, when i run alsamixer i get:
function snd_ctl_open failed for default: No such device
i have run aumix and set the volume/etc properly.
ideas?
