My computer crashed recently so I built a new one (AMD Sempron, ASRock K8Upgrade-1689 m/b) and installed the original HDs. Most things work as expected (not USB so far) but the most urgent problem is that the mouse pointer is frozen in the middle of the screen in X.
This is a MS 2-button serial mouse. I'm using X-Org. The relevant section in the config file is: Section "InputDevice" Identifier "Configured Mouse" Driver "mouse" Option "CorePointer" Option "Device" "/dev/ttyS0" Option "Protocol" "Microsoft" Option "Emulate3Buttons" "true" EndSection I've tried other /dev/ttyS1 etc. but no help. Anything to try? How can I be sure the serial port is OK? Give up and get a mon-serial mouse?
