I believe another option is to have
~/.vnc/xstartup:
geometry = "1024x768";
exec gnome-session
I'm not sure about this, but it's worth a try. If you use the above
command to start gnome-session ("exec gnome-session"), then I don't
think you need the ampersand (&) at the end. exec will do this for
you.
