Hello, What you need to do is run the program called "gnome-settings-daemon". This program is run automatically when GNOME is in use (as you would expect), but not when other window managers/desktop environments are run. So you can either run this daemon manually after logging in to your preferred window manager, or you can use the features of your window manager to run the daemon automatically. For example, if you are using KDE, then you need to place a symbolic link to "/usr/bin/gnome-settings-daemon" (or the output from the command "which gnome-settings-daemon") in the directory "~/.kde/Autostart". Sorry, but I don't know how to run programs automatically at login using Window Maker. But I suppose that's what the directory "/usr/share/doc" is for! ;-) Hope this helps, Malcolm < mlalkaka [at] gmail.com > -----------------------------------------
