What kind of terminal did you have in mind? X-terminal or character based telnet terminal in a LAN? Then it is easier to go completely diskless (www.ltsp.org). I recently made a router/firewall of a 386 SX 25 MHz 8 Mb RAM, 110 Mb harddisk.
