I have a new hd. 'dmesg' says: ide1: BM-DMA at 0xd808-0xd80f, BIOS settings: hdc:DMA, hdd:pio hdc: Maxtor 4D040H2, ATA DISK drive ide1 at 0x170-0x177,0x376 on irq 15 hdc: Maxtor 4D040H2, 39083MB w/2048kB Cache, CHS=4982/255/63, UDMA
If I say 'hdparm -t /dev/hdc' (or want to mount it) I get: /dev/hdc: Timing buffered disk reads: hdc: dma_intr: status=0x51 { DriveReady SeekComplete Error } hdc: dma_intr: error=0x84 { DriveStatusError BadCRC } hdc: dma_intr: status=0x51 { DriveReady SeekComplete Error } [ ... last two lines repeated three times ... ] hdc: DMA disabled ide1: reset: success 64 MB in 14.67 seconds = 4.36 MB/sec Why? How do I fix that? Thank you for your help, Robert Epprecht.
