Not sure what to say; this works fine for me. You *are* in X, right? When viewing the message, you hit 'v' to view the attachments, right? And you're hitting "<Enter>" to view the highlighted attachment once in the attachments screen? (I'm not trying to be condescending -- just trying to make sure we're both doing the same thing.) Are you by any chance in a 'screen' session that was begun before X started?
