i don't either, the categorization is useful because the former is simple to get working whereas the latter is a nightmare, unless your very lucky. just one point, the most popular inkjet model lately seems to be epson, the debian ghostscript package will *NOT* work with an epson printer [0], and the original poster does not sound up to the challenge of rebuilding that package with various add on hacks and patches to make it work. i looked into just that a few monthes ago and decided it was more trouble then it was worth [1] and replaced the printer with a postscript model. [0] at least the models which are most likely to be aquired at this time, eg: stylus color 8xx, 9xx, etc. [1] i don't have any interest in becoming my own debian maintainer for the gs packages, and that is essentially whats involved. -- Ethan Benson http://www.alaska.net/~erbenson/
