I have done this thinks 2 weeks ago for my DELL CPx with a kernel 2.2.17. In fact every thing is explain in the README file provided by the pcmcia-cs source from debian. If you follow the step you will create a pcmcia debian-package which suit your kernel. Just my 2$ Francois-Rene HAMELIN
