Thanks for the suggestion, guys. Is there any way I could have caused it by messing up a setting in Debian? I ask that because it started happening to me immediately after I switched to Debian from another distro, and it had never happened to me before that. I'll look into getting a new battery when I have some money, if I can't find a software-related cause by then. Thanks. Tom
