The last couple times I've done an apt-get dist upgrade, one of the installs has hung, and I think it was the same package each time -- had to hit ctrl-c to get it to continue, then it seemed to do okay:
Preparing to replace netbase 3.17-1 (using .../netbase_3.18-1_i386.deb) ... dpkg: warning - old pre-removal script killed by signal (Interrupt) dpkg - trying script from the new package instead ... Stopping internet superserver: inetd. Stopping portmap daemon: portmap. dpkg: ... it looks like that went OK. Unpacking replacement netbase ...
