Your colleague is on something. On every system I've spec'd, the Intel version has been more expensive than a comparable AMD system. You don't have to go crazy with "high-quality" components to "stablize" an AMD system. Just don't by the cheapest components you can find (something you don't want to do with Intel either). -- Jamin W.
