if you don't want to use the beta DHCP server, there are alternatives. i've used dhcp-dns 0.5 on several machines, and it works. it's a set of perl scripts which use bind 8's dynamic update features. http://www.cpl.net/~carville/dhcp-dns.html takes about 5 minutes to set up. there are a few other programs around which do similar things but this seems the best of them. it's GPL-ed, so i might package it. craig -- craig sanders
