What I can find directly about it from Google is: <FreeBSD-Hardware mailing list> FROM: Peter Jeremy DATE: 01/02/2002 17:32:27 SUBJECT: RE: Driver for WebCam DSC100 On 2001-Dec-25 18:00:35 +1100, Peter Jeremy <<EMAIL: PROTECTED>> wrote: >My brother has just given my son a WebCam DSC100 camera for Xmas[1]. >It's been locally re-badged as "Spirit Web-Cam", but the original >label as as above. Having tried it at work (using -CURRENT from yesterday) it probes as ugen0: Genesys Logic, Inc. USB Camera Device, rev 1.10/0.01, addr 2 gsmx07# usbdevs -v Controller /dev/usb0: addr 1: self powered, config 1, UHCI root hub(0x0000), Intel(0x0000), rev 0x0100 port 1 powered port 2 addr 2: power 64 mA, config 1, USB Camera Device(0x0132), Genesys Logic, Inc.(0x05e3), rev 0x0001 gsmx07# Does anyone else have one of these, or any ideas about how to go about reading photos out of it? I've looked though the Linux USB pages but whilst Genesys appears, this camera doesn't. Peter To Unsubscribe: send mail to <EMAIL: PROTECTED> with "unsubscribe freebsd-hardware" in the body of the message ---------------------------------------------- Digging about www.linux-usb.org, this is not listed. Genesys Logic doesn't even indicate anything on its website other than scanner ICs, which are a different animal. From that, I'd suspect that the imaging chip is not yet supported by anything under Linux. There is a *very* outside chance that the software will run with Wine, but not by the experience I had with my *I paid too much for a lousy toy* camera. The listing I found of camera support at http://www.teaser.fr/~hfiguiere/linux/digicam.html (Digital Camera Support for UN*X) does not list those Vendor/Product codes being supported by any driver, so apparently there isn't anything else using the Genesys Logic webcam IC that is supported, that this can possibly masquerade as. Sorry, but it looks like there isn't any support as yet for the imaging chip, and possibly it is discontinued. -- Mark L.
