That version did appear on ftp.debian.org on Saturday. The Packages and Packages.gz files haven't been updated yet, but I was able to install the new libc6, and subsequently the new dpkg. Of course I don't want to try "apt-get upgrade" until the Packages files are updated, but I suspect my problem will go away now that libc6 no longer conflicts with dpkg. | > I mirror directly off of ftp.debian.org | | There is nothing "directly" about ftp.debian.org. It's a mirror like any | other. (The master site is master.debian.org, which is only accessible to | developers) So what level is ftp.debian.org? If only developers have access to master.debian.org that means all the other mirrors are rooted somewhere else. And if users/companies can't mirror off of master.debian.org then ftp.debian.org is, as far as us LUSERs go, the most direct source we have for mirroring the Debian site ourselves, thus my use of the word "direct". I'm sure it's not the only anonymously accesible first level Debian mirror, but, as far as I'm concerned, it is as "direct" as I can get. Gary
