Glad it works (we knew you chose mgetty somehow). Next time you are stuck like that, rather than re-install why not use the rescue disk (the first boot disk). Boo the machine w/ the disk in and choose the rescue option. This will allow you to mount the filesystem, edit the broke file and reboot. Save you the hassle.
