+- My mail system seems to be working since the upgrade to hamm/frozen. +- However, I just tried "telnet localhost 25" and got "connection +- refused". I had noticed after the upgrade that /etc/inetd.conf had this +- line (note the "#"):
+- # smtp stream tcp nowait root /usr/sbin/tcpd /usr/sbin/in.smtpd ( will be restored by smail postinst) My /etc/inetd.conf looked the same after I upgraded smail to 3.2.0.92-3 (in bo; I don't know which version I had before) and smtp refused to work. Additionally, the files /etc/aliases, /etc/smail/config, /etc/smail/directors, /etc/smail/routers and /etc/smail/transports were replaced by empty files. When I changed the line in /etc/inetd.conf to smtp stream tcp nowait root /usr/sbin/tcpd /usr/sbin/in.smtpd smail listened again at port 25 but refused to know neither local users nor remote machines. How can I convince smail to accept my existence again?
