This sounds possible, but I'm not exactly sure why it would be
necessary. Is this machine behind a firewall or something?

No, the reason I want to do this si to reduce load on the main server by
distrubiting IRC, FSP, etc to different machines, since we could only swing a
P133 for the main server. In essence I would be making my own firewall, but can
I direct a machine from outside the firewall to an IP address inside the
firewall
fairly easily?
