Hello Debian gurus! Well, I'm new here and I must apologize in advance for my naivity in the world of Linux. Please forgive any questions that may seem a bit gullible. So far, I've learned to install Debian 3.0, mount floppies, and cds, and I get around the programs ok. Finally figured out the permissions for kppp and now I'm on line and very willing to learn.
I worked a little bit with Mandrake-Linux 8.2, but the apt-get system of getting programs seems to be easier to work with and less headache with those darn dependencies. I am a 67 year old man, retired from the service and living in Mexico City. My wife died of cancer a few years back, so I t ry to keep my mind occupied with adding to skills with Linux. What better way to stay active than to tackle a project such as this. Well, that's for my introduction. I am reading all these letters with intense, eager interest. This week I'd like to put in some hard drives & configure them with grub ( or is it lilo?) Is it possible to have Debian 3.0 on the primary hard drive, windows98 on the second and Mandrake on the third? I do have three hard drives that are 7.8 so they are too small to partition each. The only thing I can think of is to have Debian's bootloader taking care of all three. Well, I can do this with three windows98 harddrives but I'm going to need some assistance with this project. By the way, I was told by someone on the Mandrake mailing list that windows can't go on the second hard drive. I'm reading some manuals now.
