The appropriate kernel module comes with the kernel source.  Read the
Kernel-HOWTO to do it the self-rolled way, or install kernel-package
and kernel-source-(version) and read the documentation that comes with
that to go the Debian way.

The specific option you need to say M or Y to is
CONFIG_INPUT_SIDEWINDER.  It's under Character Devices/Joysticks.
