it also means your lilo is looking for your custom kernel that is not
where you said to lilo where you put it
- what commands did you use to "build and install your new kernel"
your new kernel might be in /vmlinuz and your lilo is looking for stuff
in /boot/vmlinuz-.... assuming you updated lilo.conf
