well, I have two realtek cards, which use the same driver.
So I guess this will not work.


:-) You could always replace a card. Let's take a look through this box here of Intel and 3com cards.

In your case, there's no substitute for making up your mind real quick. In the meantime, be prepared to switch wires around whenever you change kernels.
