Greetings List!

I am a long time linux user (Slackware on a 1.04 kernel). I've used a good many distro, compiled many a a kernel. Recently I decided that I was sick of the old redhat 6.2 installation I've used as a web/file server for the past couple years (the age of the redhat 6.2 install was beginning to interfere with progress :)

A decision was made to return (again) to the debian distribution (specifially, 3.0 woody).

This server needs to run various services. Web, ssh, smb/nfs/afs all working; however I cant get a packet through port 3306 to the MySQL server to save my a$$. MySQL is up and running, root account has password reset, users created, the whole bit - but I cannot access the server from any other machines on the local net. I'm no foob when it comes toMySQL (no expert really either). I have it running on the old server, and have no issues with it there.

I'm not even certain its a debian problem, its just a brand new install so I figured I'd start here and ask around. A search of the mailing list archive turned up nothing usefull so here I am. :)

Thanks in advance!

James
