You can also have a look at mepis, its debian based with kde (or icewm)
desktop. Its look is a bit cleaner in my taste to the Knoppix default
one.

One main complaint against it for my uses is that the reiserfsck on it
isn't usable (there are two reiserfs style packages around versions
around, one that works and one that says that the fsck functionality
isn't implemented, the mepis version I tried used the wrong one).
