I don't think so. The plasmashell crashes disappeared with plasma-workspace 4:5.3.2-4. I forgot to mention that I'm using DRI3, which seems a workaround https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=86281 As far as I could see the problem was in kwin_x11: plasmashell didn't crash.
