Package: kmail
Version: 4:4.2.2-1
Severity: normal
Hi,
Kmail always send email from the default account regardless of the choice of
identity. Even when
replying to an email sent to a non-default account, kmail uses the default
account to reply.
Let me know if you need other information.
Thanks a lot for your work!
A.

The problem is that you have misunderstood how identities and outgoing
accounts work. They are two completely separate things. You can send
an email from any outgoing account using any identity. When you select
to send your email using identity 2, this just means that the "From:"
header in the email that will be sent will have this identity's email
address, but this does *not* mean that it will be sent using the
outgoing account 2. The email can be sent using the default account
and it will still go to the destination and the "From" field will have
the email of your identity 2.
If you want to send an email using another outgoing account in kmail,
you can use the option "File -> Send mail via -> <your outgoing
account>" in composer. Again, note that this will not use the identity
associated with this account, it will use the identity that you have
selected in the drop-down list. This is all perfectly possible. Note
that you can even send emails with the identity of other persons, or
inexistent ones... There is no restriction about that...
I'm closing this bug now, as it is not really a bug.
