yes, this has been the default upstream for quite some time and Debian followed 
that.
We’re not going to revert this chance since Wayland is the way forward.

We do still provide and support the X11 session in the default install, but you 
will need to switch to it a first time on the login screen.

Also you may want to give the upcoming Debian 13 Trixie a try.
It’s now in final freeze / polishing state and it’s based on KDE/Plasma 6 and 
the Qt6. The stack has made major progress in wayland support since Debian 12 
Bookworm so maybe that will fix your issues.
