ksmserver hangs on restoring the session when the following conditions are present: - there is a sound associated with window maximize/shade action - the window to be restored by ksmserver is maximized/shaded My guess is that the problem is that knotify is not started when the session is being restored and when the restored window is maximized, kwin tries to play a sound, which is impossible as the knotify is not running.
