If I had to guess, I'd guess that the crash is actually coming from somewhere in kdelibs. Umbrello doesn't really do anything much more exotic than ask for a filename and write to the corresponding file, with the usual error trappings, warnings and so on. Though of course I can't reproduce this either, but perhaps you can force the breakage by killing famd and messing up the cache? Hmm. b.
