I agree, but in which preinst? openoffice.org rules out for obvious reasons,
-common and -core might be candidates, but still stuff get unpacked before
-core when you upgrade. (Unless I'd make all other packages pre-depend on the
*exact* -core so that -core's preinst is ran at the beginning,
which is bad imho)

The kernel only is one package, though, that is easy :-)

That would allow admin to kill current instances soon
