The Recommends here in question *IS*, though (did you even look at the Recommends: fields at all?): Recommends: openoffice.org-filter-binfilter, java-gcj-compat | sun-java5-jre | java2-runtime, openoffice.org-java-common (>> 2.2.0-4) Note the java-gcj-compat as the first alternative.
