AFAICS "Symbol" is the last thing it'll try as a replacement font in
formulas. Wingdings (with the floppy symbols) comes earlier in the
replacement lists.

$ dpkg -S opens___.ttf
openoffice.org: /usr/share/fonts/truetype/openoffice/opens___.ttf
It should be installed and recognized by fontconfig. Try "fc-cache -f"
as root to update fontconfig's caches.
