I wasn't doubting that is was official, but as I suspected it is out of date. There is a bug in libc 2.3.1 that it doesn't always handle shared libraries with large numbers of symbols properly that we do not see on recent revisions of libc. Can you please update your libc6 to at least the version in testing, or alternatively downgrade to the Woody version? > Perhaps is something messed in my system: I've finished yesterday the > installation of a new system on a Toshiba laptop, (net installation), from > similar sources -excludig cdrom sources- and with a new location for the > kde sources: (deb http://download.kde.org/stable/3.1.1/Debian stable main) > and > the openoffice does not crash anymore, !! Well, 2.2.5 is the correct Woody version which is what we expect to see on a Woody system. > (But in the fist system I did nothing explicitely to upgrade to the 2.3 > !!!???) But I guess you must have installed a package that required a newer libc6 revision sometime? See if apt wants to remove any packages when you downgrade your libc6. Chris
