--single-debian-patch is no longer "new" at this point. The fact that you were not using it and relying on dpkg-source to generate a different patch at each upload was just bad taste IMO. Most people relying on dpkg-source to generate the patch of what's stored in the VCS are already using single-debian-patch (BTW, it's better to put it in debian/source/local-options).
