If you really want a single regex you could use:
^(?:([^:]+):)?(.*?)(?:-([^-]+))?$
My inclination however would be to use multiple steps to split the
version:
my $epoch = '';
my $debver = '';
for ($version)
{
$epoch = $1 if s/^([^:]+)://;
$debver = $1 if s/-([^-]+)$//;
}
