I would expect that anybody who knows what Ham radio is would recognize Amateur Radio as referring to the same thing.

So, I would also second "Amateur radio"...
I agree that "Ham Radio" is not too descriptive for those
outside the circle (myself included). However it is
consistent with the terminology in the Linux kernel's
config.
