I was wondering where I could read some goals for the Etch Decktop. What
is the plan fram here. What versions of gnome and KDE do you hope to
have. Any chance gnome 2.16 will be in Etch? :) Also what is this HAL
transition and how can I find out more about it? Is there a list of goals
with a timeline out there? If not, how do you stay organized?
I guess, as freeze time is in summer, the etch version will be the one
which
is released this spring. We will only be one version late, but there is not
much we can do about this, when we release in december.
I don't mean to argue with you but isn't the freeze on October 18?
http://lists.debian.org/debian-devel-announce/2005/10/msg00004.html That
will be one month after gnome 2.16 will be released. Then you have 1.5
months to work on it. That is a total of 2.5 months. I think you guys
need to give yourself more credit. Debian has the best working for them.
Ubuntu finds a way to release the new gnome each time in about a month after
a release and it is mostly stable. You guys will have 2.5 months and you
know by then it could be perfect. You can work just as fast as Ubuntu and
yet you have over twice as much time as they do. You guys just need to have
more confidence in your abilities. I have that much confidence in you.
